Nashville Sweets: 5 Hidden Gems You Need To Know

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you some of the most genuine sweets in the city you won’t find on the top of popularity. As a Nashville native, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Nashville’s new stuff and certain categories I keep coming back to the tried and true spots I’ve visited my whole life. If you’re a visitor, some of these might be a little out of the way to travel to, but it’s worth it. I recommend truly immersing yourself in the local spots to get the real feel of any city you go to. As the great sample of Jimmy Smith on Drake’s song, “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2” goes, “…all that other stuff is here today and gone tomorrrrrrr..” This list below shows what’s built to last. Please enjoy my shortlist of hidden gem sweets in the 615.

Shugga Hi Bakery and Cafe. Inc.

Shugga Hi is in it’s own lane. From the food to the bakery, this place knows what they’re doing! You can order cakes, amazing donuts and pies alike over the phone for pickup.

1000 Dickerson Pike | Nashville, TN 37207

Hours: Fri-Sat 8-5pm Sun 9-2

Bobbie’s Dairy Dip

Great soft serve ice cream with an atmosphere like you’re in a remote area. Compared to where it is with the new “development”  it almost seems like you take a step back in time to the old school ice cream stops on the road. They’re the oldest sweet stop on this list and still around because of the quality they bring to the table. Since 1951, they’ve been a great option!

5301 Charlotte Pike | Nashville, TN 37209

Hours: Mon-Sat 12-5pm Sun 12-4pm

Fox’s Donut Den

Very low-key spot in the city! I love this place’s selection. Seasonal selections and amazing donut cakes. You’ll find something here that will keep you coming back.

3900 Hillsboro Pike | Nashville, TN 37215

Hours: Mon-Thurs 5-10pm Fri 5-12 Sat 6-12 Sun 6-10

Ice Cream Bar

A fairly new spot in the city that’s latino-owned. The whole joint is mimicking a bar. Ice cream in martini glasses, homemade paletas, and waffle cones! Oh how could I forget, Ice Cream Tacos!

5572 Nolensville Pike | Nashville, TN 37211

Hours: Mon-Fri 4-8 Sat-Sun 1-9

McGaugh’s Donut Shop

This place has been in the Nashville area longer than the Tennessee Titans! A true OG in the area with generous hours with quality sweets.

1111 Gallatin Pike S | Madison, TN 37115

Hours: Sun-Sat 4-4
