If you didn’t know, Digital Inclusion Week kicks off today around the country from May 7-11, 2018. For the first time, Nashville will hold an event as part of the efforts to bring awareness to digital inclusion in the city. Here are a few things to know.
What is Digital Inclusion Week?
Digital Inclusion refers to the activities necessary to ensure that all individuals and communities, including the most disadvantaged, have access to and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) aka the goal is to get ALL people tech-savvy. Digital Inclusion Week is a nationwide effort aimed at raising awareness for both digital inequities and the ongoing efforts by organizations and trailblazers to bridge the gaps.
How can you participate in Nashville?
This year, Conscious Conversations will hold a Digital Inclusion Week event at the Google Fiber Space (remember we were the 5th Fiber city selected:) on Friday, May 11th from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. The Conscious Connect event will provide a way for you to get social with other like-minded professionals and tech folks in the city. Registration is free, reserve HERE.
What happens after Digital Inclusion Week?
After the week, it’s the “get to work” party. Connect and volunteer with local organizations leading the efforts in the digital inclusion space around the city.
