Historic Jefferson Street has been known for music since the 1940’s bringing artists and talent from around the world to Nashville. A new concert series, THIS IS MUSIC CITY is bringing the music back to the street this summer. Happening every last Thursday of the month through September, THIS IS MUSIC CITY has live music featuring local artists at Kossie Gardner Sr. Park. Artists like Saaneah, Cojo Ko and Brian Brown have performed.
Thinking about on the music that came out of the street many years is also important. Called The Golden Age. As the Jefferson Street Sound Museum shares, many long-time Nashvillians considered 1935 – 1965 the Golden Age of Jefferson Street. Anybody who wanted to see and be seen was out and about on Jefferson. Show business headliners stopped in Nashville to try their acts. The Silver Streak was a popular ballroom that booked big names from Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Count Basie to Ella Fitzgerald.
Now this new concert series is poised to help bring the vibrance, culture and music back to the street. The series is the brainchild of Matthew McCoy, a local musician in the city and includes partners like the Jefferson Street Historical Society. Each concert series lineup will have you dancing all night long. Grab your friends, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and get ready to groove to some amazing tunes. The event is all about celebrating local talent and enjoying the vibrant music scene in our city. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the best of Music City right on Jefferson St!
Learn more and register for the next concert series on August 28, 2025.
