Exemplifying creativity and oozing difference, the Frist Art Museum presents to the masses Lee Alexander McQueen & Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous. A fashion-based art exhibit, this new showcase tells the story of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen and his trusted friend Ann Ray, a French photographer, as McQueen created beautiful and one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing over the course of his life.

This exhibition will feature a total of 60 different dress objects, including 10 that were gifted to Ray by McQueen himself, and 13 that are exclusive to Frist’s presentation. To go along with the clothing, it will also feature 65 photos from Ray’s collection of 32,000 pictures she’s caught through her journeys with her long time friend. Spaced throughout the exhibit are explanations of the point McQueen’s life had taken to go along with the creations. The exhibit of the artistic duo is split into five sections, with each meant to detail the point in his life and career, including information on how the duo met and formed their friendship.

Often being categorized as misunderstood, but respected as a visionary, Alexander McQueen channeled his personal struggles into his work to create some of the most awe-inducing work seen in the fashion world. Adding onto the charismatic styles he conveyed, Ray’s photography tells a story of its own while also giving McQueen’s legacy a more intimate incite.

The exhibit will be in the Frist Art Museum’s Ingram Gallery from May 30-August 25.
