Life has its ups and downs and the best thing we can do is to roll with the punches. Imagine having a heart attack in your thirties, a son with kidney disease and life is flashing before your eyes. Mr. Jermaine Dunlap, a man who was scared into starting his health journey is now on the upswing of a startup that fell in his lap. Mr. Dunlap is a man in the ministry and believes everything happens for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
Jermaine, a Tullahoma, TN native is no stranger to hard work. As a fellow good brother that believes in manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind, he doesn’t shy away from stepping in and being on the right side of history. The goal is to be a testimony for others that might need the extra push to take their health seriously. He and his partner, 15-year-old son Isaac Dunlap did just that in May of 2020 with their research and passion for service. His journey to health happened at the Fitness 1440 gym. Working out and getting his body right was the priority until he realized that what we put in our body is equally as important if not the most important part of the journey to a better you. The specific 1440 gym location is different from other gyms; it has an area for a smoothie after your workout. The opportunity fell in his lap when they were struggling to provide the ideal healthy snacks for the 8,000+ people who work within a .25 mi radius from the facility. He knew it would be a great opportunity to start the framework for New Day Smoothie.
I asked him what the goal for his new business was and he mentioned a motto he’s lived by since he could remember: “Motivate, Inspire, Uplift, & Promote”. He told me these four actions are all he needs to make a change in any setting he’s put in. For Mr. Dunlap, faith is the journey and obedience is the vision. This new chapter of health for him and his son is awakening to be more of a ministry to others that might need encouragement on their own journey. Everyone is fighting their own battles and the best thing we can do is be a pleasant memory for those along our paths.
As we are finding our stride in 2021, we have to remember what we left behind in 2020, and it’s always a good time to start a new habit. It’s a new day to start fresh.
If New Day Smoothie were to run for president, the motto you’ll see on the billboards is, “Convenient healthy food”. What’s the future of New Day Smoothie you ask? Mr. Dunlap responds, “Growth…Stay Tuned”.
