Nashville is slowly becoming known as the Hotel Capital of the South. Every other week there is a new boutique hotel or luxury high rise popping up in downtown Nashville. If you truly want to experience Nashville and get away from the over-crowded bars and expensive hotels, I suggest looking beyond downtown Nashville to East Nashville where you will find The Dive Motel.
The Dive Motel is located just a few minutes from Downtown. The Dive Motel & Swim Club is a 23-room motel perfect for people who wish they could step back in time when life was simple and uncomplicated. The 23 room retro motel offers a pool, swim club, and a dive bar. If you ever wondered what it would be like to step back in time when disco balls, shag rugs, and brown and yellow paint were popular this motel is for you.
This 70’s themed motel was originally built in 1956 and was previously a rundown motor inn from the 1950s called the Key Motel. The motel has been transformed to its original glory. All rooms come with a signature ‘Party Switch’ that spins a Disco Ball to the tunes of “Dive Radio”, consisting of 4 channels: Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll and Sleep which gives the motel its flare and charm.
The Dive Motel has three penthouses, three double rooms, three cabins, and 14 king rooms for a total of 23 motel rooms. Each room has its own 70’s themed styled decor from disco balls, led lighting, shag rugs and psychedelic paint.
The Penthouse Suite and Honeymoon Suite feels like you entered a combined episode of Soul Train and the movie Car Wash with its yellow and brown walls, pink shag carpet, 1970’s vinyl record players and double soaker tubs.
Once you have gotten settled in head over to Dive Bar & Lounge for one of their signature cocktails to help transport you back in time. The bar is open seven days a week serving cocktails but what you will be most impressed with is the wood-paneled walls and vintage tile floors which will make you truly forget you are in 2020!
The best part about The Dive Motel is the 60-foot pool and hot tub which are surrounded by lounge chairs and umbrellas. There is also poolside cocktail service to ensure you don’t have to move from your lounging chair. The pool is open to non-motel guests for $20 Monday through Friday and $30 Saturday and Sunday. Please note the pool is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and you must be 21+ to enjoy the motel and its amenities.
The Dive Motel also offers an annual or monthly Swim Club membership program, providing year-round access to the private Swimming Pool (heated in the winter) Hot Tub and Private Pool Deck.
If you are in search of something a little different and not your average place to stay I highly suggest The Dive Motel & Swim Club. It’s fun, authentic, and one of a kind!
