This story is a series collaboration with Twendé, a TN accelerator program.
Shan Ojehjomon is the Co-Founder of Provision Health Solutions, a boutique-style non-medical In-home care services provider that can help at any point within the aging process. Their goal is to help you or your loved one age in place as well as extend independence as long as possible.
What was the catalyst for you to start your business?
My tipping point was the pandemic. During the pandemic, I stepped down from leadership to answer the call to be a bedside nurse again, which is kind of unheard of. The pandemic exposed a problem that needed to be solved, and that problem was the gap between acute care and long-term care. There is this middle ground, where someone needs help but they do not need 24-hour care assistance. That’s where we come in.
What made you want to participate in the Twendé program?
For me, I have a great healthcare background, but my co-owner is the entrepreneur. He has business acumen and is very involved in those things, however, I still needed to learn. Twendé helped me polish many of those skills and also gave me great practice in overall business management.
Twendé means “Let’s go” in Kiswahili, so what’s been a word that has kept you going as an entrepreneur in Nashville?
I would say legacy. Most of the time when people say the word legacy they think about assets, but for me, it’s much more than that. I want to leave behind a business blueprint, mindset and values for my two children.
