Urbaanite hosted another event installment for The Edit with four young leaders building community through creativity, culture, and connection. We caught up with Christian Sinclair, co-founder of Soul’d, a Nashville-based arts nonprofit creating spaces for Black creatives. Inspired by people and their stories, Christian is filling a need for community through third spaces, reading clubs, and youth programming in the city.

What brought you to Nashville?
Work.
What do you do or create in Nashville?
I’m the Founder and Creative Director of Soul’d Creative Collective, a Nashville-based arts nonprofit creating spaces for Black creatives. By day, I work as a Communications Manager in pharmaceuticals. I curate community-centered programming, including InspireU, our after-school program now in its second year.
What inspires you?
People and stories inspire me. Being able to hear someone’s story through their art and bridging the gap between opportunity and access is what drives my work.
What excites me most about Nashville’s growth is the potential to ensure that Black creatives aren’t left behind. As the city expands, there’s an opportunity to intentionally build spaces and platforms where Black artists and creatives are centered in the cultural landscape.
Brunch, Lunch or Happy Hour? Coffee/Tea
Favorite Nashville spot? I’m a gatekeeper (so sorry) but Noko.
