Title: Owner/Artist
Tell us what you are creating in Nashville? I am very proud that my art studio designed and created the Juneteenth Memorial statue that was placed on the front lawn of Centennial Park Arts Center. That achievement is a beautiful chapter in the nashville community’s history and landscape. I am currently involved in an arts initiative focused on teaching the art of quilting to children and adults. ABC Quilters is a group of highly accomplished local Quilters who teach classes in metro schools and throughout the Nashville area.
Sharing my creativity, and making all art accessible to others is a great joy and a passion for me.
What inspires you? I am inspired by people who give to others and make an effort to make their community better.
What gets you into your creative space? I love being around other creatives and exchanging ideas. I have always had a great curiosity about everything, which allows me to find beauty and the challenge to create in so many everyday things. Bright colors are always a stimulus create.
Who is your favorite Nashville artist/musician: My brother Michael Turney, (Papa Turney) is my favorite Nashville musician. His dedication to Nashville’s music scene, the Blues in particular, is unsurpassed.
What is your favorite Nashville spot you are digging right now? The Frist Museum, Papa Turney’s BBQ, Centennial Park Art Center
