Urbaanite Night at OZ Arts MAJOR performance was a beautiful night of creativity, culture, connection, and community. The night centered around the acclaimed MAJOR performance by choreographer Ogemdi Ude. The Nashville debut performance was nothing short of amazing as it deconstructed the HBCU Majorette legacy and through art, dance, spoken word and music. The performance ended with the Tennessee State University Sophisticated Ladies majorette team and the Aristocrat of Bands. There were also former TSU Majorettes who attended and also shared their stories in auxiliary programming throughout the week. Urbaanite readers had a chance to connect with Ogemdi Ude before the show to learn a little more about her why and inspiration in creating MAJOR. Plus, OZ Arts had a fun play on their specialty drink for guests – Friday Night Lights, giving homage to the TSU Big Blue.
