A Local Fashion Blogger Shares Her Nashville Fashion Week

This year, calendars filled fast as Nashville Fashion Week (NFW) introduced a treasure chest of designers and new style trends.  Whether you kept current through hashtags, blogs, Snapchat or Instagram posts; there’s no denying that Nashville has established itself amongst a growing cohort of cities that hosts a fierce fashion week.

NFW ran from April 5th -9th. I kicked off the annual festivities at Studio 615 during the East Meets West: Designer Runway Show featuring designs from Francesca Marotta, Brooke Atwood, Michael Drummond, and Kallmeyer New York.  Guests enjoyed featured cocktails from Tito’s Handmade Vodka including my personal favorite “The Fashionista” and a classic “Nashville Mule”.  And what’s a party without ample opportunity to network and take photos? The two professional photo booths at the official after party were a hit, while the added touch of sparkling chandeliers made the night memorable.

By mid-week, I found myself lavishing in the bargains of “Shop Nashville” a city-wide celebration designed to encourage and support the local retail community. My first stop was Fab’rik of Cool Springs where I managed to find four fabulous finds under $60 during a BOGO sale! One of which I wore to the NFW Gala.

Throughout the remainder of the week, local style lovers enjoyed spectacular views during the City Lights: Ready-To-Wear Runway Showcase at Legislative Plaza.  There were also a handful of trunk shows that took place throughout the city.  This year I prioritized the NFW Education Panels themed Process, Progress, and Pivot.  I found the “How to launch, grow and/or establish a fashion concept” panel most useful. I loved the formal yet fun-filled discussion with this year’s panelists.

By Saturday evening, I was draped in sequin and off to the NFW Gala at Oz Arts Nashville. Together with other local creatives, we enjoyed the 2016 Fashion Forward awards and a special message from Mayor Megan Barry who served as keynote speaker. As always, it was a pleasure to represent LeisureandLabels.com and take part in such an instrumental week for the fashion community.  This annual event is just the beginning of what’s in store for the city of Nashville!
