We caught up with Courtney Crockett, co-owner of one of the hottest gyms right now, The Lab Training Studio. Located in Nashville, The Lab offers all you need to get into the best shape and health of your life. For Courtney, a chance meeting 5 years ago in a training gym would provide the connection to her co-founder, Harold Watson. She would later get hired at the gym, and that’s where the spark for her own fitness concept would begin to be built. In 2022, Courtney and Harold became business partners and opened The Lab. They offer personal training, group classes, nutritional plans, a Run Club, and also a community, supporting their clients both in and outside of the gym. Learn more about how Courtney is helping people reach their fitness goals and why The Lab may be your new favorite gym in the city.
Where are you originally from?
Local from Murfreesboro.
How did you get into fitness?
I have always been an athlete. While running track, people began asking me to train them and I grew that into a business.
What is your vision for The Lab?
Our goal is to provide a state-of-the-art gym experience, combining modern equipment with expert training and personalized services to create a supportive community for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. We aim to cater to the needs of the local community, including individuals of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. For so long now, we have been told that people want corporate amenities with a personalized feel, and we are here to fill that void.
What makes The Lab different from mainstream gym chains?
What makes us most different is our size and amenities for a private gym in the area. Most importantly, the support and camaraderie of our gym community. You feel the support system almost instantly.
Additionally, family and community are pushed in the Lab. Parents and caregivers can add a childcare option to their membership. Get baptized, hit a milestone, and we show up for people outside of the gym. We want to be there for you out in the world and build community.
Our Run Club is free and open to anyone in the area to come and get some miles in with us. We do 2 and 4-mile options at a local park. You can run, walk, bring the kids/scroller, dog, or whatever else you may need to do.
How do you want your members to feel when they come in to work out?
They can expect to feel like they’ve found their people when they walk into The Lab. Clients can experience some of the best classes that Nashville has to offer.
