Isaac Addae has called Nashville home for many years, but his roots are in Ghana. He created Conscious Immersions, a global travel experience for leaders and entrepreneurs. Isaac and his siblings have been traveling to Ghana since childhood, and began taking friends home with them in high school. In 2022, his sister, Angela Addae, a Fisk alum, and brother-in-law hosted about 20 guests in Ghana for their wedding. They then created a travel company, organizing five trips since then. Isaac has now collaborated with his sister to create Conscious Immersion, a global travel experience for leaders and entrepreneurs.

If you have wanted to travel the world but are unsure where to start, this experience is one to check out with people who will be sure to turn into family, giving you a local experience abroad. Learn about Isaac’s why and how you can be a part of this incredible trip this summer.

Why did you decide to create this international experience?
Growing up in the U.S. as a Ghanaian-American, I often felt a disconnect between my heritage and daily life. I created Conscious Immersion Ghana to bridge that gap, not only for myself but also for others seeking a deeper connection to their roots. This journey offers a transformative experience that combines cultural immersion, historical reflection, and entrepreneurial exploration, enabling participants to engage with Ghana in a meaningful way.
What do you hope people experience when they participate on this journey?
I hope participants will experience a profound sense of belonging and enlightenment. By walking through historical sites like Cape Coast Castle, engaging with local entrepreneurs, and participating in traditional ceremonies, they will gain a holistic understanding of Ghana’s rich history and vibrant present. It’s about fostering connections that inspire personal growth and a renewed sense of purpose.
Why has it been so important for you to keep your Ghanaian culture at the forefront of your life and work in Nashville?
Nashville is a city rich in culture and diversity; however, the narratives of African heritage are often underrepresented. By embracing and sharing my Ghanaian culture, I aim to enhance the tapestry of our community, offering new perspectives and fostering inclusivity. It’s about honoring my roots while contributing to the cultural dialogue in Nashville.
