Cheekwood’s Black Arts Bash is all about highlighting African-American artistry. You can participate in the creation of art yourself with hands-on activities, including the opportunity to learn about the colors and symbols in African textiles with a special community quilt experience. Drawing inspiration from the meaningful patterns and brilliant colors, participants will choose a fabric square and use stamps depicting traditional symbols and designs to create their own design. Each completed square will be added to a larger canvas to create a “community quilt” display. Community Quilt Activity will take place in the Massey Auditorium from 12pm – 5pm.

  1. Embark On a Nashville inspired art exhibition at The Frist Learning Center, featuring local students and artists.

Check out artwork from local favorites and emerging artists in the Frist Learning Center Great Hall. Plus, you will have an opportunity to view work from talented high school artists across the city. Plus, enjoy a panel talk with the artists at 5:30pm.
