Disney’s FROZEN comes to Nashville with a special Divine Nine/HBCU Night

Sponsored by:

Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and Disney’s Frozen: The Musical are inviting NPHC Nashville chapters, area HBCU alumni and families out on Thursday, May 16 for a special performance. This will be a performance unlike others as attendees will also be able to enjoy a pre-show reception with refreshments and merchandise. Disney is also letting attendees behind the curtain for a special talk back after the show with the cast. This cast will also be one of the first to have an African-American Kristoff, King Agnarr and Weselton.

We had a chance to sit down with Kyle Lamar Mitchell who plays King Agnarr and he shares what attendees can expect from this upcoming musical. A Yale graduate who knew he wanted to be in theater at an early age, Kyle has been any many performances including a long running tenure with The Lion King.

As Kyle shares, “My mom instilled the love of travel in me, so embarking on this journey touring with Disney’s FROZEN across the country is the most rewarding thing”. Kyle is taking on the role of King Agnarr along with being the understudy for Kristoff. Having a tour of this magnitude come to Nashville is definitely exciting and the representation on the stage is beautiful. Kyle states, “Seeing ourselves represented on stage, getting to share these moments with, with folks during HBCU night is wonderful. Just seeing all the faces shining back at us in the audience and knowing if I can just inspire one child to pursue their dreams, life their best life and love who they are and from whence they came that’s very special occasion”.
