On July 1, 2021, Nashville was overcome with sadness as the infamous Meat & 3 restaurant, Cal’s Country Kitchen, closed its doors for the foreseeable future. One of the most major soul food restaurants, located in Madison, had sadly been taken away from us. So imagine the excitement of Nashville to Cal’s reopening their doors! As of Sunday, June 23, 2024, Cal’s Country Kitchen has officially reopened for business under new, yet familiar, management.
“Madison’s Best Kept Secret” has now become “Nashville’s Best Kept Secret.” After 24 years of taming the kitchen, Carolyn Buggs has passed the torch to her son, Marcus Buggs. The Buggs took to Instagram to announce the changing of leadership and location with their new placement in North Nashville. The grand opening featured more of the Buggs family in the kitchen with Marcus at the helm.
The soul food classic is open everyday except for Monday and Saturday. They have also stated on Instagram they will be including a brunch option on Saturday’s that’s coming soon.
