Black History Month is here! We are dedicated to spreading the word about the people and places who have shaped Nashville in the past and continue to make an impact today. This year’s guide includes a running list of Black History Month-specific events you can experience by yourself, with the kids, family, significant other, friends, or colleagues.

Nashville International Airport Celebrates Black History Month with Free Music Series

In celebration of Black History Month, Nashville International Airport® (BNA®) is thrilled to present a celebration of Black musicians as part of its Arts at the Airport program. This exciting initiative will showcase a diverse lineup of talented artists throughout February.

February 12  – Film Screening: Where The Water Runs

Join us for a screening of the short film, “Where the Water Runs” , the winner of a Smithsonian African American film festival award. After the film, we will have an open discussion on environmental justice and Black history. Directed by Black filmmaker DuBois Ashong, “Where the Water Runs” follows Nasir, during a brutal California drought. Nasir works for the agency controlling the city’s water. He discovers that his sister is fighting back against their redlining. Will he choose his job or stand with his community?

February 19 – Reading and Book Discussion – The Black Family Who Built America

February 19 – The Edit: A Young Adult Panel. Shaping Future Black History

The panel will explore what it looks like to build meaningful spaces for people in a fast-growing city and the responsibility that comes with it. From preserving culture to creating access, these panelists are leading with intention and redefining community for a new generation.

Expect thoughtful dialogue, real stories, and practical insight, plus time to connect with fellow young adults invested in Nashville’s future.

A sacred space rooted in the ancient Circle Tradition, where women come together to reflect, restore, and reconnect through shared stories.

February 21  – Black Fashion Week: Runway Revival

Presented by The Black Fashion Week & The National Museum of African American Music.

This show is a high-fashion, immersive experience built around Seven Vices, explored as a spiritual and psychological concept, not tied to any one religion.
