A Little Nashville History: TSU Makes History as the first HBCU to have a Hockey Team

Tennessee State University (TSU) made history by announcing on June 28 at Bridgestone arena that they will be the first HBCU to offer men’s ice hockey at the collegiate level. The season will begin in 2024 and the team will begin at the club level with hopes of becoming apart of the NCAA division. Supported by the Nashville Predators, the addition of ice hockey to the TSU athletics legacy is so important in the fight for inclusion and access and we love to see it!

“Bringing ice hockey to Tennessee State University is a part of our continued commitment to provide our students with new opportunities and to broaden new interests in areas where they have traditionally had limited or no access,” said TSU President Glenda Glover.
