A Father’s Day Special

The summer has a lot of different things to celebrate throughout the months. One of those major events we must not forget is Father’s Day, a day to lift up our fathers as they have been lifting us up all of our lives. To show love to our Nashville fathers, we got three of them to tell us about their experiences raising their children and what they love about it, along with their favorite things to do on Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to these three, and all the fathers in Nashville!

How many children do you have and how old are they? | I have a daughter, and she is 21 years old.

What is one thing about being a father that never gets old for you? | One thing about being a father that never gets old to me, is loving my daughter, and constantly reminding her that she is the air that I breathe. Giving her the tools and wisdom that she will need to keep God first, love her family, love herself, and embrace her dreams will always be something that I strive to do as long as I’m able to do it.

If you could pick out one lesson you have taught your child/children to tell others, which one would you pick? | One lesson that I would choose to tell others that I have taught her would be to be a leader, and don’t follow what others do just because others are doing it. I always tell her to speak her truth, even if her voice shakes.

What is your fondest memory with your child/children? | My fondest memory with my daughter is when we went to Gatlinburg and we both zip lined over the tallest peak in America. It was something that I was skeptical of, but once we did it, and I saw the smile on her face, it is something that has been embedded in my heart since that very moment.

Is there anything in particular you like doing for Father’s Day? | For Father’s Day, I just enjoyed being with my family. They always do something special for me, and take me to one of my favorite restaurants; that’s always a plus. I also enjoy talking to my father on Father’s Day and letting him know how grateful I am for what he has done for me, and I will forever try and fill his shoes.

Favorite place in Nashville to celebrate Father’s Day? | My favorite place to eat at on Father’s Day is J Alexander Redlands. I often go to other steakhouses that are more expensive and a bit classier, but there isn’t a steak in the city that can beat the Steak Maui at J Alexander Redlands.
