24 Hours In Nashville: Good Food + Good Fun

Neysha Harrel works in cyber security sales and runs a Nashville blog focused on food and drinks, shopping, and culture.

Why is Neysha lovin’ Nashville right now?

I’m originally from Buffalo, NY, but I moved to Nashville 5 years ago. I was fresh out of college with no money, but I wanted a change. I visited Nashville once before with my friends and I loved the vibe and the energy here. Now, I have no intentions of leaving Nashville. I love so many things about the city. My favorite thing about Nashville is that it’s a big city but it feels like small city to me. I also love the emphasis on local entrepreneurs and local business. The community really supports the local, shop small vibe and the younger entrepreneur community.

Morning

I kick off the day with brunch of course! I feel like Louie’s Wine Dive in Midtown is super underrated. There’s never a wait, and I tell people to go there all the time. The food is so good. It has bottomless mimosas and a super cute patio. If you want something a little more casual, I’m a huge advocate for Proper Bagel which is saying a lot coming from a New Yorker, but they kill it!

Afternoon

I recommend doing the classic tourist things in Nashville if it’s your first time here. Go to 12South for some shopping, check out the murals, and go to Broadway. I like to take people to the walking bridge or to check out the cute little shops there. You can see some really awesome live music there during the day. I usually end up at Ole Red Nashville, Blake Shelton’s new bar. I’ve heard some really great performers there.

Evening

I really love the Mockingbird. Anything she does is amazing. My top 3 items there are the brie grilled cheese, their corn dogs, and the mac and cheese. They’re must haves! I also like 5th and Taylor and Rolf and Daughters for a nicer spot.

Bonus

Liquor Lab is the best spot for date nights, birthdays, bachelorette parties, you name it. It’s the perfect place to start your night. It’s like a cooking class but for cocktails. They also have a discount code for locals, so look out for that. Also, the new 16 Bit Bar is really fun for large groups. They have tons of games and a really nice covered outdoor patio. And it’s dog-friendly!
