Why are you lovin’ Nashville right now::

I love the rapid progression that’s happening here right now, especially on the culinary scene. I also love the fact that this city is filled with some of the most creative individuals.

What do you create in the city::

I am the founder and photographer of Life on Forty West,  My photography entails all things lifestyle Рfood, fashion, home decor and music.

Why do you do what you do in Nashville::

When my husband and I moved to Nashville from Memphis a few years ago, I purchased a camera with the purpose of starting my personal blog, life on forty west. Although I am an attorney, I’ve always been a “creative” at heart. The blog was to serve as an outlet for me to express myself and tell my story, along with a few aesthetically pleasing photographs.

From the moment I placed my hands on that brand new Canon, however, there was an instant and unexpected love connection. Suddenly, my direction changed and this full-fledged photography thing just happened. I found myself putting more time and effort into perfecting the composition of my images than my words.

Our community loves living local, what makes your local business different::

What makes my photography different from the rest is the fact that I try to tell the unique and individual stories of my clients by photographing them in their element, like doing things and going places where they would actually spend their time if they weren’t being photographed.

Quote and/or Scripture you live by::

“My life didn’t please me, so I created my life.”¬†Coco Chanel

In Nashville we love to brunch, happy hour or coffee/tea it up. What do you prefer and why?::

I prefer to brunch, and I do it often! It’s just one of those feel good pastimes to enjoy on the weekends after you’ve worked all week long.

We share Nashville through the eyes of local African-American entrepreneurs and tastemakers in the city. We love authentic stories, beautiful images and awesome locals willing to share their Nashville.
