Why we are lovin’ Nashville right now:
Nashville is a city of growth and vitality! I am native of Houston; however, I moved to Nashville in 1998 to attend Fisk University. Over the last 16 years, I have seen this city grow by leaps and bounds. It is amazing to see the number of cranes throughout the downtown area and beyond. Nashville holds a special place in my heart because this is where I met my wonderful husband, Brandon Sr., and we created a family of our own which is encompassed of two beautiful, energetic, and loving kids, Brandon Jr. and Brooke. This is also where I have established some meaningful friendships and I have had the opportunity to build my career and move through the ranks within an organization that allows me to utilize my business acumen while simultaneously making a positive difference in the lives of others. This is what individuals seek in a city, to live out the American Dream. I am extremely fortunate to have found love, purpose and success in Nashville. This is why my husband and I chose to celebrate our 10th year anniversary right here in Nashville, because our love story began right here in the heart of Music City and hopefully we will continue to experience good vibes and the right “notes” for years to come. It is because of the aforementioned reasons why I am loving Nashville right now.
Allison’s 24-Hour Guide
Celebrating milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries are extremely enjoyable to me and since my husband knows this, he made it a point to make the celebration of our anniversary extra special. We decided to celebrate our special day right here in Nashville. Saturday morning after our actual anniversary, which was Friday, August 26th, we woke up to breathtaking views from the 15th floor of the Omni Hotel, one of Nashville’s premier hotels. The ambiance of the Omni is truly fantastic! It is such a relaxing atmosphere with a decor that is warm and inviting. The Omni is located in the heart of Nashville’s downtown and is the perfect place to wake up and enjoy the beauty of this great city. We started the day off at Kitchen Notes, a restaurant inside of the Omni. It was the ideal eatery to enjoy one of the best brunch buffets I have ever had!¬†
During our anniversary weekend, we wanted to take some time to relax and pamper ourselves. On our way to the Venetian Nail Spa in the Green Hills area, we noticed the Fisk University cheerleaders conducting a car wash fundraiser. Since Fisk is my alma mater, I wanted to make it a point to give back so we stopped, made a donation to the squad and they cheered and showed such wonderful energy like individuals from Fisk tend to do. I concluded this quick visit with a picture with my fellow Fiskites since I make a point to try to capture every great moments. We then made our way to Venetian Nails and had what we would both consider one of the best pedicures ever. It was now time for some shopping. We stopped by our must see store, Restoration Hardware, to gain some ideas about a renovation project that we plan to complete within the next year. Our shopping excursion continued and after a few hours in Green Hills mall, it was time to head back to the Omni to relax for a while and then prepare for an Urbaanite kind of night with some of our besties!
Brandon and I practically saved ourselves for what was next in our day long celebration. With a day of what we identified as some of our “best” experiences, the visit to Kayne Prime was the icing on the cake. This restaurant is located downtown and the minute you walk in, you feel like you will receive the ultimate experience and you will! The menu is so unique and the steaks and sides are delicious. The decor, lighting, and service was fantastic! Kayne Prime will now be one of the restaurants on my go to list for the celebration of special days! It was the perfect location to conclude what was truly a wonderful day!
I think that it is so important to appreciate the beauty of Nashville and what it has to offer. There are so many restaurants, museums, sports venues, shops, and additional areas of interest to take advantage of and as I think back on what an enjoyable time my husband and I had over the weekend, I am content that we did make the right decision to stay here in Nashville to celebrate a milestone that we are proud of. This is where it all started for us and we look forward to what is to come! And the love story continues…
